The kids don't let any of the food go to waste because the 2 hot meals they receive at preschool are usually the ONLY meals they eat that day. Remember when we were children and your more mom would want you to clean your plate because "there are starving kids in Africa"? I don't know how that helps the starving kids in Africa but Nomalanga's Preschool is a wonderful testament to what proper nutrition can do for a child living in the informal settlement because all the kids are taller and sick less often than the ones that do not attend the preschool.
If one child doesn't eat all his lunch, he will share it with others until all the food is gone.
We found children helping children; must like there are child head of households; they are forced into the role of an adult at a very early age.
